Sept. 11th - Last Chance to Update Emergency Info Online

Aeries Parent Portal, the online student information system where parents are able to complete the traditional First Day Packet online including emergency contact information and annual notifications for their students will be closed for editing on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 4:00 PM. The editing feature of the Parent Portal allows families to update emergency contact information, review & accept mandatory district documents, change how they would like to receive communication from the school, and allows middle school families to view assignments and grades. After September 11th, the Portal will become a “view only” system and any changes will need to be made in-person at the school office. If you have not signed up for the Aeries Parent Portal, visit your school’s office for assistance.

Distance Leraning

During distance learning, students will follow a consistent structure across each grade level. This plan meets the daily instructional minute requirements set by the state. Daily instructional minutes are calculated as a combination of teacher-led instruction and additional individual assignments. Teachers will not be assigning traditional homework. Students should utilize their time after the established school day to complete any assignments that were not completed during the school day, unless those assignments are to be completed over multiple days as noted by their teacher.

Zoom - 8/24/2020

Zoom is experiencing outages this morning. Some staff and families have had success by refreshing their browser page (some not all). This is an issue with Zoom not the Moreland School District. Please continue to try to log-in for each scheduled time and look for communication from your teacher via email with further updates.

First Day of School - August 20th

We look forward to seeing you virtually on Thursday, August 20th at 8:00 am. Please look for an email from your child's teacher inviting your child to their Google Classroom or click on Google Classroom and join there. If you have trouble getting into your child's Google Classroom please email their teacher or call the office. We are all learning together, Thank you!

Device Check Out, Learning Materials, and Assessments

We will begin the 2020-21 school year in a Distance Learning model. In order to create small groups for instruction, we will be scheduling one on one assessment for students in grades TK-5. During these appointments, your child will receive educational materials to take home. If you need a device, for distance learning you can also check out a device during the assessment appointment. Our assessments days are August 10th, 11th, and 12th. If you have not received an appointment in the mail by 7th, please call the office.

Parent Portal Opens Monday, August 3rd

You can get a jump start on completing your required first-day packet as early as Monday, August 3, 2020. The annual First Day Packet will only be available online through Aeries Parent Portal now through mid-September. This packet asks you to review emergency contact information, review required annual notifications, and check permissions for your student. After mid-September, parents can call or email the office to update contact information.

Satellite Program - Distance Learning Support

Thank you to all the parents who filled out the Distance Learning Survey. We appreciate your input and feedback. Our small satellite learning locations on all campus’ will be for students who need more support and students of essential workers. We are currently evaluating the survey results and will contact parents soon with the results. We may not be able to accommodate the full amount of students who are in need due to county health guidelines. Additionally, we can not start the program until our waiver is approved by the state and county.

Pandemic EBT Benefits

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency.
Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries.
Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. Most will get their P-EBT card in the mail during the month of May. P-EBT cards will begin arriving around May 12, 2020 through May 22, 2020.
Families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail, must apply online before June 30, 2020. The online application will launch on May 22, 2020.
