Anderson Art 2024-2025
At Anderson, every student in TK-5th Grade participates in a weekly art class. Students will get to create hands-on projects through different mediums and learn about the fundamentals of art from our amazing art teacher. See her message below about herself and the art program at Anderson:
Hello! My name is Ms. Veronica, and I am the Art Teacher for Anderson Elementary School. I’m so excited to work with each and every student on campus, and can’t wait to see what we all create together! I firmly believe that every child is an artist, and it’s my hope that I can help inspire and encourage creativity in all students, especially those who may not yet feel confident with their skills.
I am a local artist from San Jose who is mostly self taught. This summer, one of my paintings was displayed in an art gallery for the first time in downtown Santa Cruz! It was a very proud moment and was the catalyst for me wanting to teach art to kids. Drawing and painting are my specialties, and I have been doing both ever since I was able to hold a pencil. Nature is mostly what inspires me, and the beach and forests are my homes away from home. If you go to the coast often, you may see me painting along the cliffs or in the forests.
In this class, we will go over and practice the fundamentals of art. Each session will start with a short guided lesson on techniques, theory, or famous artists. Students will then use the remainder of the time to complete the activity in their own creative way. Sometimes we may do projects based on books or famous works of art, other times we’ll just be making art for fun. The most important part is that the students enjoy their art time and build confidence in themselves.
