Thank you to all the parents who filled out the Distance Learning Survey. We appreciate your input and feedback. Our small satellite learning locations on all campus’ will be for students who need more support and students of essential workers. We are currently evaluating the survey results and will contact parents soon with the results. We may not be able to accommodate the full amount of students who are in need due to county health guidelines. Additionally, we can not start the program until our waiver is approved by the state and county.

Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19), children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in California buy food when schools are closed because of the coronavirus emergency.
Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries.
Families with children who get CalFresh, Medi-Cal or Foster Care benefits do not need to apply. Most will get their P-EBT card in the mail during the month of May. P-EBT cards will begin arriving around May 12, 2020 through May 22, 2020.
Families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail, must apply online before June 30, 2020. The online application will launch on May 22, 2020.

We are proud to announce that Anderson Elementary has been selected as a 2019-2020 Imagine Nation Beacon School. We were awarded this honor for above-and-beyond enthusiasm and innovative use of Imagine Learning. We are excited to be among the honored schools this year. Our students and teachers have worked consistently all year long on the Imagine Learning programs. Congratulations to our students and staff!

Each week our counselors will prepare Social Emotional Learning (SEL) activities for each grade level. These can be found on the district’s and school’s website under Distance Learning or you can click here for this week’s activities.

Monday, April 13th, is the last day to pick up materials and devices at Anderson. If you plan on checking out an electronic device, you will need to sign a form taking responsibility for the device. Please note electronic devices will only be distributed to parents/guardians. Chromebooks will be distributed to students in grades 3-5 and iPads will be distributed to students in grades TK-2. Check out will be in front of the school in the front office. We will be using the side front office door outside of the gates.

The Moreland School District will be updating our elementary growth and development program to be in compliance with the new requirements of the California Healthy Youth Act. Therefore, we will not be providing grades 4 and 5 growth and development instruction this spring. During the 2020-2021 school year, we will create a task force to help with the selection process of new instructional materials to use for elementary growth and development instruction. As spring recess approaches, we would like to remind you to please take all necessary precautions to protect yourselves and our community from this and any illness.
People who travel outside the country will be screened upon re-entry to the United States, as determined by federal and state officials. Moreland School District does not have the authority to monitor travel of our students or staff.
If you travel to a Level 3 country with COVID-19 travel advisories during the upcoming spring break, you will be subject to the any CDC guidelines currently in place. Visit the CDC website for a list of destinations with risk of community spread of Coronavirus.
If you travel to any affected Level 2 country we urge you to follow all related guidelines to support the health and safety of our community.
Please inform your school site staff if you are traveling to any country outside the United States.

Precautionary Measures
Moreland’s District custodial staff has been instructed to conduct deeper cleanings at our schools with extra effort on areas considered high-risk (e.g., bathrooms, athletic areas, cafeteria/kitchen, health room/nurse's office) and high-touch points (e.g., door handles, hand railings, lockers, and shared desks).


Exposure Notices
Exposure Notices are sent to families to notify them when their children may have been exposed to a communicable disease at school (i.e., Strep Throat, Impetigo, Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease). The notices alert families to watch for signs of that illness and seek medical advice when necessary. Effective March 2, 2020, schools will be distributing Exposure Notices via Aeries Communication. Anderson will continue to print and send paper copies of Exposure Notices to families. Thank you.

We will continue to have parent/teacher conferences as scheduled in March. If you are sick, or have traveled to an affected country, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a phone conference or request that the report card be sent home. Parent conferences will begin on Thursday, March 12th for grades TK-3 and on Monday, March 16th for grades 4-5. This is your opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss his/her progress and review the report card. Conferences are optional for children in fourth and fifth grade who are meeting grade level standards. All children in kindergarten through third grade will have a conference appointment.
