iReady Diagnostic Assessments

These diagnostic assessments are adaptive. As a student answers correctly, the questions increase in difficulty. As a student answers incorrectly, the questions become easier. This adaptability allows the i-Ready assessments to identify the strengths and opportunities for growth for each student.

Students will take the diagnostic assessment at the beginning and middle of the year and, depending on the grade level, may take the assessment at the end of the year. Students in grades 3-8 will use the Smarter Balanced Assessments of California (SBAC) as their third assessment for the school year. Each grade level has slightly different administration windows, which will be shared with you by the school site.

Parents will receive their child’s diagnostic results to show how they performed in specific domains of each subject area, their expected growth for the school year, and what skills will help their progress. With each grade level’s staggered testing windows, sites will communicate when and how these results will be shared.

More information about i-Ready will be shared through our future newsletters and parent meetings. To learn more about i-Ready, you may watch this short video and visit the i-Ready Family Center.
